Description

CMT is one of the largest terminals on the U.S. Gulf Coast, and the only bulk terminal in the region that provides direct rail access for ocean going shipments. Convent has two independent shiploading systems, with its newest shiploader capable of accommodating cape-sized ocean vessels. Its location on the Lower Mississippi River, 1.5 million tons of ground storage and unique inbound and outbound capabilities provide a cost-effective option for transloading a range of bulk materials and liquids.

  • Recently completed $120M expansion to significantly modernize facility and increase operational efficiency
  • Commissioned new, state-of-the art shiploader that enables dual-Panamax shiploading capabilities and provides ability to efficiently load Panamax vessels in ~26 hours
  • New berth/shiploader can load cape-sized vessels to ~85% capacity at current draft limit (50 foot draft, near 100%)

Details:

Rail unloading

  • Only dry-bulk, rail-served terminal on the Lower Mississippi
  • Rail discharge rate of -4,500 stph (can dump 150 car set in ~4 hours)
  • Bottom dump rail car only (prefer rapid discharge)
  • Two rail loops hold 300 rail cars on site and allow unloading of unit trains without breaking
  • Serviced by Canadian National rail with multiple interchanges possible (ex. Memphis, St. Louis, New Orleans) for UP, BNSF, NS, CSX and others

Barge unloading

  • Strategic alliance with service provider Cooper Consolidated

Stacker reclaimers

  • Two new stacker reclaimers
  • Radial stacker with new reclaim tunnel allows further product segregation
  • Other stats – speed, etc.

Berths: 2 (can load both simultaneously)

Original shiploader

  • 1100 Metric Ton CapeSize Traveling Gantry and Shiploader

Storage Capacity

  • Total ground storage of 1.5 million tons
  • Permitted for all carbon products

Draft: 47-foot draft in the Mississippi (limited by the SW pass)
